Macmillan Coffee Morning 2017
Our Coffee morning on Friday 22nd September was, as we hoped, a very enjoyable occasion. Members, friends and neighbours came along and we were joined by a good number of members from the Lunch Club.
As is the way at such events we will do anything to raise money and that is particularly so this year as we were doing it in memory of our friend Anne Baker who passed away in May.
We had an ample supply of tasty and impressive cakes for sale which disappeared very quickly and a café supplying light refreshments to accompany them. There was a ‘Guess the Height of the (very tall) Cake’, which wasn’t easy as it was in centimetres, a problem for those of us who still think in inches (!!) and several stalls selling jewellery, cards, ornaments scarves etc, etc.
The three hours passed by very quickly and we would like to thank everyone who did anything at all to help make it a success either by baking, donating items to sell or helping to set up beforehand and put everything away at the end.
Anne would be pleased that it was a happy and successful event – the amount raised on the day was over £250 and with later sales and donations it’s now £518 and it’s still rising so watch this space !
